Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®) is seeking a self-motivated Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to support the firm’s environmental site assessment and remediation projects. The ideal candidate for this position will be capable of serving as the project manager and technical lead for complex environmental site assessment and remediation projects. As a member of the firm’s Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) Group, this position will serve the federal, state, commercial, and industrial, sectors from initial Phase I environmental site assessments through remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remediation system design, installation, system operation and long-term maintenance and monitoring support. This role will work with a wide variety of clients, from local manufacturers to complex high-visibility Brownfield redevelopment projects and Federal HTRW projects working under the provisions of CERCLA, TSCA, RCRA, and the MCP.


This senior-level position will require technical leadership, staff management, client maintenance, and new business development involvement. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of site characterization, monitoring, and remediation projects is required. Management of subcontractors, to include development of subcontractor agreements, monthly invoice and status report preparation, and client follow-up required. The candidate selected for this position will manage key clients and projects, provide technical expertise, lead project implementation, and assist the firm’s Vice President of Operations to develop strategies for growth of the SAR group practice over time.


  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or other applicable engineering discipline. 
  • 10 years of experience in site assessment and remediation working under the provisions of CERCLA, TSCA, RCRA, and the MCP with experience managing HTRW-type Federal projects.
  • Design and implementation of complex environmental site investigations, including experience across all environmental media involving innovative, direct sensing, and conventional investigation techniques.
  • Remedial system design, monitoring, and operations experience. 
  • Civil site development, stormwater, or wastewater experience a plus.
  • Excellent technical writing skills with demonstrated technical experience, including preparing site investigation reports, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, cost estimates, remediation system designs, bidding documents and specifications.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher certification.
  • Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED Certified.
  • Excellent organizational and personal communication skills; ability to successfully interact with clients, staff, and peers clearly and directly.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, as a minimum, OMB Position of Public Trust and Federal Protective Services Favorable designations (pass a federal background check). Other clearance requirements for access to federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. 
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen to include cannabis and other regulated substances under Federal Law. In addition, due to the nature of our work, the clients that we serve, and the setting for certain on-site assignments, the candidate selected for this position must be fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus prior to beginning employment except in situations where a medical or religious accommodation is requested and granted by the firm.
